This song is among my favourites. A haunting melody and deep lyrics combine in this song and it leaves an impression.
Obviously, being from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, the song is intended to be about vampires. However, it works for other things, as well.
"I'm over it, you see I'm falling in a vast abyss, clouded by memories of the past. At last, I see!" It could be from the point of view of someone deeply depressed. That person has been hiding their true self so long, working so hard to be what society expects of them, and then they finally find someone who understands and they can show their true self and start to heal.
A great performance by Disturbed and amazing lyrical talent from Jonathan Davis. I would also like to thank Richard Gibbs for that haunting melody he wrote.
Meaning of the Song
This blog is just my way of expressing my appreciation for a well-written and performed song. Each post I make will be about a different song that I recently listened to and I will not make any effort to use a different artist each time, nor will I make an effort to link the songs into a story.

The Pretty Reckless - House on a Hill
I'm honestly having a hard time wrapping my head around the lyrics. The music has a mournful quality and the lyrics are haunting. It is one of the best songs I have ever heard.
At the start of the song, it seems to be about a small glimmer of hope, which dies in the middle of the song and is reborn even more strongly in the form of determination at the end.
"But the children are doing fine, I think about them all the time, until they drink the wine, and they will, they will, they will."
The chorus seems to be stripping bare the human condition. We are born innocent and get more cruel and jaded as we grow.
Altogether an excellent song. I would like to thank The Pretty Reckless for an amazing performance and writers Taylor Momsen and Ben Phillips for their amazing lyrical talent.

The Pretty Reckless - Miss Nothing
I've heard this song a few times before, but it has been just recently that I paid attention to the lyrics.
"As I watch you disappear into the ground, my one mistake was that I couldn't let you down."
To me, the song is about a controlling and abusive person that the singer nonetheless loved. This person recently died and the singer is depressed and in mourning, wishing that things had been different and that she hadn't loved him, but it's too late to change things.
This song moved me and I truly appreciate The Pretty Reckless for doing a stellar performance of the song and Kato Khandwala, Taylor Momsen, and Ben Phillips for their amazing writing talent.

Meaning of the Song - What It's About

Feel free to comment but trolling and intentional instigation of fights will not be tolerated. I don't mind swearing and I will occasionally use what others deem "profanity" when I feel that the situation requires it, however, keep in mind what I said about trolling and fights.
This is meant as a place for discussion and sharing views. I will not reject any honest beliefs expressed here and I ask that you not try to tear down my own.
Lastly, what I write here will be my own interpretation. I do not care if the writer has already told everyone what the true meaning of the lyrics is and that will not change what the song means to me.
